My Style

My counselling style is centred around the therapeutic relationship and collaborative goal setting. Creating safety requires honesty and openness on the part of both client and counsellor. Together we wade into vulnerable waters to better understand the thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences keeping you from feeling regulated, centred and living life to the fullest. My approach combines Somatic Attachment Theory and Eye-movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to support individuals in reconnecting to their bodies and inner wisdom. From this grounded space, we can work on building new skills and identifying forgotten strengths and values to support individuals dealing with challenging relationships, anxiety, overwhelm, goal setting, grief, and trauma.

Trust and safety are fundamental to doing the work in therapy. I pride myself on creating safety for clients to feel they can share and move through whatever needs shifting. Whether it is setting personal goals or healing trauma wounds, your safety is of primary importance. Some ways I help create safety are through grounding and using mindfulness to prepare for our sessions together, working at your pace and acting as an anchor for your inner exploration. Additionally, I recognize the importance of ongoing learning in delivering trauma-informed and culturally sensitive care and am committed to staying informed about the latest research and best practices in these areas, allowing me to best serve and support a diverse clientele.

Collaboration is key to successful therapy. I can support you in identifying your pressing problem and defining your therapy goals. Together, we establish manageable steps by acknowledging societal influences, privilege(s), systemic barriers, and other factors that both directly and indirectly influence your journey. We can create a holistic plan tailored to your needs. I'm here to support you every step of the way, ensuring that we remain aligned with your goals for healing and progress.
